Meet Janati Kakongoro, a passionate Bridge Uganda Leadership & Development (L&D) Supervisor. She joined Bridge in 2016 and now manages five schools. Janati is responsible for the smooth running of the schools, working closely with teachers and head teachers.

Janati regularly visits the schools under her jurisdiction, ensuring teachers are there and conducting the right lessons, with all the correct equipment. She is on hand to offer support to head teachers with any issues they are experiencing in the school.

“The lessons have to be pupil centred and we have to register learning gains,” Julie explains, “I am happy that the learning gains are actually measured by collecting data because we can identify the challenges that can be improved on.”

Janati says her greatest joy is seeing pupils succeed in class. “The power is in the classroom,” she smiles, “Our PLE results put the icing on the cake. It’s worth all of the efforts. It is a true satisfaction for me. It is evidence that the Bridge model works.” Julie credits her success to the power of teamwork with her colleagues and the parents, adding: “I couldn’t do it without them!”
