Meet Vicky Lajara, one of our brilliant Leadership & Development (L&D) Supervisors in Uganda. Vicky joined Bridge in September 2015 as an ambassador. This involved recruiting talented young teachers, and encouraging community members to enrol their children at Bridge when it first opened. During this job, she met community leaders, helped parents form Super Mama clubs and liaised with government officials.

“Interacting with the community humbled me and my interpersonal skills kept improving. My confidence improved and I enjoyed speaking to parents and community leaders about Bridge.”

In 2017, because of her experience and skills, Vicky was promoted to the position of L&D Supervisor, a position she has held for two years. “The reason I wake up every morning to go to work is to see that children are in class and they are learning. I make sure that the teachers are happy, and that everything is working smoothly.”

Indeed she has is a force to be reckoned with. Vicky always hits her targets and ensures parent satisfaction, as well as maintaining a great working relationship with the teachers and the head teachers. “My team is my strength,” Vicky explains, “What affects them equally affects me. I can only stand tall on their shoulders. Without them I can’t imagine how work would be.”
