BRIDGE SCHOOLS WILL REMAIN OPEN – HIGH COURT

The High Court of Uganda has extended the Interim Order against closure of Bridge International Academies as earlier directed by the Ministry of Education.

The hearing of the Judicial review filed by Bridge International Academies challenging the closure notice did not kick off after the legal team from the office of the Attorney General failed to show up in court despite being served on the 19th of August.

High Court Judge Lady Justice Patricia Basaza Wasswa extended the Injunction that was earlier given on the 11th of August. The matter comes up for hearing on the 22nd September 2016.

Against this pronouncement, we would like to inform our dear parents and pupils that the academies will remain open as court listens to our concerns.

Our parents are thankful of this the latest development. “We know that the governemnt has our children at heart. Our children have greatly improved in their academics in just a short period of time ever since they joined Bridge. We are glad that our children will continue in school once third term begins” says Nankunda Esther, a parent of 3 children in Bridge International Academies in Kasokoso.

Daniel Opio, a Manager at Bridge International Academies said that “We are happy to learn of the extension of the injunction. We are optimistic that the case will be heard to it’s logical conclusion and that over 12,000 children will stay in school.”
