New survey results reveal that 93% of parents are proud to be parents with Bridge and 92% are satisfied with the education provided following research conducted across Bridge Kenya schools. The findings emphasise the strong support Bridge has from parents who have children attending their schools in Kenya.

Parents reveal that have been so impressed with the education being delivered to their children that 83% have recommended their Bridge school to a friend or neighbour.

The overwhelming majority are impressed with the teaching that takes place with 96% of parents saying that teachers are always in class teaching. These results are in stark contrast to the high level of teacher absenteeism in Kenyan schools, which currently stands at 47%, according to the World Bank.

The findings come ahead of Bridge pupils sitting their KCPE exams for the third consecutive year. In 2015 Bridge pupils scored 63% compared to the national average of 49% and in 2016, Bridge pupils scored 10% more than the national average.

KEY FINDINGS FROM NEW BRIDGE PARENT SURVEY:

• 92% of parents are satisfied with their Bridge school;
• 96% of parents surveyed say Bridge teachers are always in class and actively teaching;
• 96% of the parents say that they are treated with respect by Bridge staff;
• 93% of parents are proud to be a Bridge parent;
• 83% of parents have recommended Bridge to friends and other parents; and,
• 98% of the parents say that they will keep their children at Bridge in the forthcoming year.

Elizabeth Mumo, a parent at Bridge Academy, Kiserian near Nairobi said: “I have witnessed my children improve a lot in their academics. Before they could not read or write. Today, they are able to do their homework without assistance.”

Philip Origi, a parent at Bridge Academy, Consolata in Mombasa said: “At Bridge, teachers are always in class. They deliver lessons in time. I have never seen teachers sitting or standing outside their classrooms anytime I have visited a Bridge academy.”

Reuben Wambugu, the Bridge Customer Experience Director said: “We are really pleased that Kenyan parents feel so positively about Bridge schools and the education that their children are getting. We believe it’s essential to work in partnership with parents and communities and we are delighted that the overwhelming majority of parents are satisfied with our schools and that most have recommended us to a friend.”

The positive findings come as Bridge continues to work closely with the Kenyan government on APBET registration and licensing and the new curriculum pilot.

The survey was conducted by Bridge Academies in June 2017 with 380 parents who have children at Bridge schools in Kenya. The survey was based on questionnaires answered by parents via telephone interviews.
