Academies Remain Open in Busia County

BRIDGE INTERNATIONAL ACADEMIES REMAIN OPEN IN BUSIA COUNTY
Bridge currently operates 12 academies in Busia County, Kenya. We are pleased that the High Court, ruling in our favour, said that two of our schools should remain open in Busia.
However, the court decided to uphold the decision to close 10 academies. We are disappointed with this decision and will appeal. We are confident that we can work with the local authorities and other stakeholders to resolve any issues within the stipulated time that has been granted to keep all twelve schools open long- term. The 10 academies under discussion continue to provide great education to over 2,400 children and we are committed to remain open to help these children fulfill their potential.
“We have been complimenting the efforts of the government in its quest to comply with the Constitution of Kenya (2010), Article 53(b) that states that every child has a right to free and compulsory basic education for the last 8 years. We look forward to continuing to empower communities across Kenya to provide an engaging and exciting education to Kenyan children that ensures that they finish school literate and numerate and prepared to become the future leaders of Kenya!”
All Bridge academies fall under the purview of the APBET guidelines. Bridge is working with the Ministry to develop a road map for registration and intends for all its academies to be registered soon.
