Kenya was where we launched our social enterprise, opening our first school in 2009. We began partnering with the government, communities, teachers and parents to improve education in Kenya.

Over four years (2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018) our pupils significantly outperformed the nationwide average. In 2018, our pupils scored an average of 12 points higher than pupils nationally, a difference of 0.19 standard deviations, equivalent to almost one full additional year of schooling. These results are even more impressive since the nationwide average includes pupils attending elite private schools as well as those in public schools.

We helped the Kenyan Government develop their Alternative Providers for Basic Education and Training (APBET) guidelines for the regulation of affordable schools and were also a partner in the pilot of the new Kenyan curriculum. We’re proud to improve learning outcomes for thousands of children in 44 of the 47 Counties of Kenya.
