Joel Wafulu is a Bridge alumni from our Gicagi academy. He’s now a Form 2 student at Lenana School, one of the top secondary schools in Kenya. Hel joined Bridge in 2013 in class 4 and sat his class 8 primary school leavers exam—the KCPE—in 2017. He loved his time at Bridge, and has kept touch with his favourite teachers. He visits the academy regularly to appreciate his former teachers and encourage the new pupils.
“I am very thankful to bridge for empowering me. For giving me a quality education and for the constant motivation I got from my teachers,” he says. “I have carried the motivation I got from Bridge with me throughout my high school and now I’m self motivated.”
He recalls the day he Bridge, Gicagi. He was quiet, shy and even a little bit afraid but with the help of the teachers, he became confident and able to express himself.
“To Class 8 pupils I would like to tell you to believe in yourself because everything is possible. Work hard so that you go to the high school of your choice,” he beams.
Joel believes he’s on course to achieve his dream of becoming a doctor. “I want to invent medicines to treat illnesses that currently have no cure,” he concludes.
