Dada Jane is 12-years-old and a recent graduate of Bridge, Malaba in the Tororo District of eastern Uganda.

She scored the highest mark of all Bridge Uganda pupils in the 2017 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), scoring in Division 1.

Her favourite subject is English and her pleasure at having scored so well is obvious, as she says: “My parents are so excited! I worked really hard and had lots of help from my teachers so I really wanted to do well.” Her parents are so proud of her and the progress she has made whilst at Bridge.

Speaking of her future plans she says: “I want to be a civil servant when I finish school and maybe even a Minister one day. Now I believe it’s possible and I would never have thought this without Bridge.”

In April 2019, the Ugandan newspaper Nile Post ran a profile on Dada Jane titled ‘What happens when a PLE star joins secondary school.’

In this short article, they praised her strong foundation at her Bridge primary school, concluding: “Look at Jane. She is excelling because she was taught to be committed, hardworking and disciplined – she has a foundation that will allow her star to continue to shine.”
